Say You Care With..........SOLAR PANELS !!

The 'Tarsheed' plight goes on in the local newspapers and via SMS. There is even a hotline where you can report violaters of overconsumption. Yesterday I received an SMS that the power supply was overburdened and there was only 4% of electricity left. Of course, it's scary given the exceptionally hot weather and I have small kids at home. But how come the government isn't taking additional measures to ensure the power supply in Kuwait?

All you have to do is look into the sky to see the biggest source of power that we could possibly utilize...the SUN! We have loads and loads of sunlight in Kuwait for at least 7 months of the year. Solar panels would be so beneficial to Kuwait and take the burden of overconsumption away.

I wonder if the government is exploring solar technology as a viable energy source or are they too busy warning us to switch the AC off before we leave home???????

oops, sorry I hit delete I think.

I asked my husband why Kuwait didn't have a major solar powered energy conservation effort going on, because like you my thinking was "harness what you have in abundance here!" when I learned of the power shortages in the summertime.

He didn't have answers to that question, but he did mention that if the universities and huge government buildings would go into "power save" mode (like they do in the USA and Canada etC) at night that that would fix the problem. The amount of power those massive buildings consume is amazing...and nobody is there at night.

i realy think that some one should tell the TARSHEED campaign staright to there faces like on a T.V. interview, they should ask them why they dont make use of the biggist energy source in the world!! i mean if in countries like Scotland where they hardly get any sun they still use solar power!!

I heard that KOC is working on a lot of solar projects for their oil wells since they are in remote locations. My cousin works as a foreman for KOC and he said that the biggest problem with solar in Kuwait are the dust storms. The dust covers the panels and they become useless with dust on top of it. From what i remember he said that a US based company commissioned by KOC called chakkola or chakola international (how ever you wanna spell it) has the solution to it. not sure what it is. Does anyone have a clue on this new technology?

Does anyone know where one can purchase Solar Panels & Charge Controllers in Kuwait? I've tried some of the obvious places like Bin Nisf (they have a small collection) and ACE, but not what I am looking for. I'm trying to put together a small power pack that I can take on camping trips and ideally looking for a 25W panel with a LCD (Steca) Charge Controller (10A). Write to me at SIQUEIRAatBPdotCOM. Many thanks.

I am the sort of hombre who passions to try different stuff. Right now I'm manufacturing my personalized solar panels. I'm making it all alone without the help of my men. I am using the net as the only way to acheive this. I saw a truly awesome site that explains how to build pv panels and wind generators. The website explains all the steps involved in diy solar panel construction.

I am not sure bout how accurate the data given there is. If some experts over here who had experience with these works can have a see and give your feedback in the site it would be grand and I would really appreciate it, cause I extremely like solar panel construction.

Thanks for reading this. You guys are great.

Installing solar panel is indeed a good investment. You do not only save with your electric bills, you also help in conserving energy. This is eco-friendly too and does not cause any pollution.
